#WeWriWa Cargon: Honor and Privilege #fantasy #scifi #postapocalyptic

In today's snippet, Eve is continuing to use the Library as a place to gather her thoughts and plan future actions. Be sure to read all the snippets from the Weekend Writing Warriors

She stopped among those elite, in front of the large windows that looked out onto the manicured gardens. Another servant pulled weeds, adding them to her basket. Hundreds of servants, easily ten times the number of elite, could be found throughout the palace. The majority didn’t tread in these halls, manning laundries, kitchens, and grounds. Today, Eve envied them.
Inhaling, Eve imagined she was in the garden, breathing the fresh air. From there, her imagination took her away from Fontive’s palace. If she reached the wild lands, Louis would never bother her again. However, life there was difficult, coaxing the land to provide enough food for one’s own family as well as the capitals.

  8. What a strange place for her. She's not really on the outside looking in, nor vice-versa. Good job of conveying that. :-)

    1. Thank you. Indeed, she has one foot in two worlds, but soon she'll take that step from one into the other.

  9. I suspect Eve has the character to endure hardship, as long as she doesn't have to deal with that lech, Louis.

  10. The good life vs the free life. Not an easy choice for her to make. Nice conflict, Kim!!

  11. The contrast between the library, crawling with hundreds of servants, and the wild lands is nicely effective.

  17. I hear the longing in her interior monologue. Wanting to be free, by herself. And away from Louis. Some of us want so little.

  19. It takes a lot of work from many people to support a few people. Whether they deserve that support...
